Äntligen på väg - Finally on our way

Nice company on the Intracoastal Waterway

(In English below:)

Stannade två nätter i Georgetown.

Now we are back on Balance and heading south towards Florida and the Bahamas after four months of delay.
For three and a half months we have been on the hard a Thunderbolt Marine in Savannah, Georgia. We now have four new engine mounts, a new propeller saft, a new shaft seal, a new cults bearing. Right now we are using our fixed spare orioekker bt a new J-Prop is ordered. J-Prop is a so-called feathering propeller.

The reason for our injuries that started with the failure of an engine mount was a initially difficult to understand. When it as discovered that the propeller was damaged, which did not really appear from the outside, we could understand the causes. We know we drove on a log at ICW on our way to Georgetown inSouth Carolina. We did not notice any damage when we hit the log. Stayted two nights in Geoirgetown. Whebn we tagen webt out to sea to sail to St Augustine in Florida, we drove the engine for a few hours when the wind died out. Then the engine mount went off. Probably, the bracket has suffered a crack that has worsened during engine driving and eventually caused it to break. With further consequential damage.

The weather in Savannah was cold, only a few degrees when we left Thunderbolt Marine at lunchtime on Saturday, February 22nd. Sailed towards St. Augustine in Florida about 135 nautical miles. Arrived at St. Augustine in the morning and got a buoy in the marina. During the day we had a nice visit and meeting with Pam Richards who is OCC Port Officer in Green Cove Springs and Ann and Brad from the AnnTeak boat that they just sold in Green Cove Springs.

On Monday, February 24, we left around 07 and went to Daytona where we arrived in the afternoon. Had some errands to do there and ended the evening with dinner at the pier in Daytona.

On Tuesday, February 25, we continued our journey south and arrived at Cocoa at 4:30 pm, where we anchored north of the bridge. Had southerly wind all day, ie headwind. Had a warm jacket all day but when we anchored in Cocoa we suddenly feel that it is very warm. Get rid of all warm clothes. Wearing shorts. Here begins the "warm Florida".
